Living Warriors Project is a small community group based in Edinburgh, run by two dedicated co-organisers. We facilitate all of our support groups, manage the administrative work ourselves, and actively participate in advocacy and events. We are passionate about creating a safe, inclusive space where people can connect, share experiences, and support one another. Our involvement is hands-on, ensuring that every aspect of the group is run with care and commitment to the wellbeing of those we work with. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 7 days, as we are dedicated to providing the best possible support to our community.
I set up Living Warriors, driven by anger and frustration at how my suicide attempt was met with shame and silence. This experience made me determined to shine a light on a significant life event that so many others face. Living Warriors was created for people to have a safe space to talk openly about their experiences of surviving a suicide attempt, to be heard and seen as whole humans in an environment of understanding and shared connection, free of shame and judgement.
What I enjoy most about the group is those "me too!" moments that happen when sharing with people who are speaking directly from their own experiences, with that real feeling of not being alone in how you are in the world.
For many years, I struggled to come to terms with my experiences and found myself in denial. I didn’t feel ready to talk about it, especially with those closest to me. While I deeply value my friends and family, discussing something so personal with them felt overwhelming, often carrying too much burden and emotional weight.
Over time, I realised the importance of finding a safe, supportive space where I could speak openly, without judgement. This led me to become a co-organiser with Living Warriors. I wanted to help create the kind of environment that wasn’t available to me when I needed it most, one built on mutual respect, understanding, and shared experiences. Through connecting with others who have faced similar challenges, I have found strength in the community we’ve built. Together, we share our stories, support one another, and learn from each other. No matter where we are in our personal journeys, the connection we have with each other is what makes us stronger.
